4. Repair/Adjustment Procedures

ADJ 4.24 Elevator Shelf Synchroniza-
tion

Any time the elevator drive chain or motor is un-
mounted, the elevator lift plates will require syn-
chronization.

Initial Actions

WARNING

Disconnect and lockout power as described
in the Power Lockout Procedure on page viii.

Disconnect the elevator from the trimmer. Re-
move the right-hand side cover (the cover clos-
est to the trimmer, Figure 4-35).

Procedure

1. Use a hex wrench to remove the two set-

screws that mount the left-hand sprocket to
the shaft, Figure 4-36.

2. Back the setscrews out approximately 1/2"

(12 mm).

3. Thread a 3/8-16 screw (toolkit) into the open

hole in the sprocket hub.

4. Turn the screw until the insert disengages

from the sprocket hub.

5. Remove the insert removal screw from the

hub.

6. Raise the elevator lift plates on the free side

until they are level with the plates on the op-
posite side, Figure 4-37.

7. With the plates level, use hand force to ro-

tate the adjustment hub counterclockwise
and put tension on the chain, Figure 4-38.

8. Using a hammer or mallet, gently tap the in-

sert into the sprocket hub while maintaining
tension in the chain.

9. Tighten the two setscrews in the adjustment

hub to lock it in place.

10. Repeat this procedure as necessary, until

the plates are level and the drive chain is
under tension. If the drive chain is not under
tension, the plates will lose synchronization
as soon as the motor is switched on.

11. Re-install all covers and re-mount the eleva-

tor to the trimmer.
