Possible Causes
Possible Corrective Action
Compressor will not run.
No power coming from the
12V source.
Make sure the compressor switch is on.
Power switch is in the off
position.
Make sure the compressor switch is on.
Blown fuse.
Disconnect compressor from power source,
then replace fuse – 30 amps.
Motor overheated.
Let compressor cool down for about 30
minutes so the thermal protection switch can
reset.
Thermal overload protection
cuts out repeatedly.
Lack of proper
ventilation/ambient
temperature is too high.
Move the compressor to a well ventilated
area, or an area with a lower ambient
temperature.
Compressor valves failed.
Replace compressor.
Excessive knocking or
rattling.
Worn bearing on the
eccentric or motor shaft.
Replace compressor.
Cylinder or piston ring is
worn.
Replace compressor.
Compressor air flow is lower
than normal, or cannot pump
to higher pressures.
Worn piston ring or inlet
valves.
Replace compressor.
