Operation

Battery Replacement
Note:
The LCD will indicate the batteries are weak with a flashing display.

1.

Press gently on the plastic tab on the back of the unit to remove the battery compart-
ment lid.

2.

Replace the batteries making sure the polarity symbols positive (+) and negative (-) on
the batteries correspond to the polarity symbols in the battery compartment.  Snap the
lid back onto the unit.  See FIGURE 1.

Note:  While the batteries are out, you will need to set
the “C” or “F” key to establish an LCD readout in either
Fahrenheit or Celsius.  Slide the “C” or “F” key under
the batteries, to the appropriate side.

Taking Measurements

If you haven’t set the unit to read results in either Fahrenheit
or Celsius, follow the directions in the note above before
operation.

Warning! Laser radiation is dangerous and can cause permanent eye damage.  Do not

stare into the beam or point it at others.

Refer to the Assembly Drawing on page 5.

1.

Point the Pocket Thermometer at the object you wish to measure and press and hold
the Thermometer Button on the side.  The meter will turn on and display a reading.  The
reading will remain on 8 seconds after you let go of the Laser Button.  The chart below
shows the relation between the distance and the size of the area measured.

2.

If working in a dark area, press the backlight button to illuminate the reading briefly.
The backlight will switch off automatically.

Special Considerations:  Make sure the surface of the object is not covered with frost, dust
or other materials.  For accurate results, clean all surfaces before measuring.  If the surface
you are measuring is highly reflective, (while it is cool) either paint it with a heat-resistant flat
black paint or put a non-reflective tape on the spot you are measuring.

Maintenance

1.

Keep the unit clean.  Wipe it down with a lint free cloth.

2.

Make sure the laser is clear of any dirt or debris.

3.

Remove the batteries if you are not using the unit for extended periods of time.
