5. Safety advice
•
An integrated BMS protects the battery from
over discharge. If the voltage falls below 8 V
(resp. 9.2 V) for over two seconds, it switches
the battery off. To switch it on again, a voltage
of 12 V (resp. 13.6 V) is required.
•
Do not disassemble, crush or puncture
the battery.
•
Do not shorten the outer contacts of the battery.
•
Do not discard the battery into fire or water.
•
Do not expose the battery to temperatures
exceeding 85 °C.
•
Keep the battery out of reach of children.
•
Avoid extreme shaking and vibrations.
•
Do not use defective batteries.
•
If battery liquid is leaking, avoid any contact with
the liquid. (For disposal of defective batteries see
section Recycling in this document).
•
If eyes have been in contact with battery liquid,
avoid rubbing. Rinse eyes immediately with clean
water for at least 15 minutes. Lift the upper and
lower eyelids, until there is no battery liquid left.
Consult a doctor immeduiately.
6. Transportation
•
Always check the relevant local, national and
international regulations before transporting a
Li-Fe-Po
4
battery.
•
In certain cases, the transportation of old,
defective or recalled batteries may be specially
restricted or forbidden.
7. Recycling
Please recycle your batteries. Do not dispose of
your batteries in drains, soil or water.
•
USA & Canada
: Li-Fe-Po4 batteries are subject
to disposal or recycling regulations that may
differ depending on state or region. Always
consult and follow the relevant instructions and
regulations before you use the battery. Contact
the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation
(www.rbrc.org) or local offices for recycling of
rechargeable batteries.
•
EU
: Waste must be disposed of according to
the relevant EU directives and regulations of the
national, regional and local environmental depart-
ments. Refer to the Code of the European Waste
Catalogue (EWC) to find the relevant instructions.
•
In many states it is forbidden to dispose of
electronic devices in usual waste containers.
•
Only dispose of fully discharged batteries in
designated containers. Apply insulation tape or
other acceptable material to the battery terminals
to prevent short circuits.
8. Changing the Battery
First, switch off all systems and make sure that the
installed battery can be removed safely.
