INTRODUCTION
Biodiesel fuel must be purchased only from a trusted supplier that understands the product and maintains good fuel
quality. Biodiesel fuel must be pre-blended by the supplier. Mixing biodiesel fuels on-site can result in incorrect mixture
that can lead to problems with both the engine and the fuel system. Engine performance may be affected by the use
of biodiesel fuel. Depending on the blending of the fuel to be used, digging performance may be reduced or torque
reductions of up to
12 % may be caused.
NOTICE: never modify the engine and/or the injection pump settings in order to recover the reduced performance.
when using biodiesel fuel blends, some reduction in digging performance is unavoidable. Some modification may be
required to use biodiesel fuel in the engine. For information on modification, consult your local CASE CONSTRUC-
TION dealer. Biodiesel fuel has a higher cloud point than diesel fuel.
NOTICE: the use of high biodiesel fuel blends is not recommended in cold weather conditions.
When using biodiesel fuel, it may be necessary to change the engine oil, engine oil filter, and fuel filter elements more
frequently than when using diesel fuel. Biodiesel fuel can remove the rust and particles normally stuck to the side of
a tank from inside the onsite fuel storage tank. Like particles deposits that commonly occur with diesel fuel, these
particles can become trapped by the machine fuel filters, causing blockage and shorting filter life. In cold weather,
this is more likely to happen.
For information on cold weather operation and proper servicing intervals when using a biodiesel fuel blend, consult
your local CASE CONSTRUCTION dealer.
When handling biodiesel fuel, be careful that no water enters the fuel system. Biodiesel fuel attract moisture from the
atmosphere. In order to limit the amount of air and water vapors in the tank, keep the fuel tank as full as possible. It
is necessary to drain water frequently from the fuel filter's water supply plug. Oxidizing and becoming unstable might
be caused by the fuel stored in the machine.
NOTICE: do not leave a biodiesel fuel blend stored in the fuel system for longer than 3 months.
When it is necessary to store the machine for a long time, it is necessary to run the engine for 20 h with the diesel
fuel, then drain the biodiesel fuel from the engine fuel system.
NOTICE: do not store biodiesel fuel longer than 3 months in any on-site storage tank.
If biodiesel fuel is spilled, it must be cleaned up immediately before it causes damages to the environment and finish
coating of the machine. Before using a biodiesel fuel blend, ask your local CASE CONSTRUCTION dealer for infor-
mation about blends approved for this machine and about detailed usage conditions.
NOTICE: be aware that failure to meet the requirements and conditions for the proper use of biodiesel fuel invalidates
the machine's warranty from CASE CONSTRUCTION.
Anti-freeze/Anti-corrosion
Use anti-freeze in all seasons to protect the cooling system from corrosion and all risks of freezing.
CASE AKCELA PREMIUM ANTI-FREEZE (MS 1710).
In regions where the temperature falls to -38 °C ( -36.4 °F ), mix water so that the proportion is 50/50.
NOTICE: do not mix different products. When topping up the fuel system, always use the same product.
Environment and ecology
Always consider the environment before servicing on the machine and before disposing of used fluids or lubricants.
Never dispose of oil or fluids on the ground or put them in any leaking container. Inquire with the local recycling center
or your CASE CONSTRUCTION dealer and obtain information about how to correctly dispose of lubricant etc.
Soil, air, and water are generally vital factors of life. If no legislation exists for the treatment of the substances re-
quired by advanced technology, sound judgment should govern the use and disposal of products of a chemical and
petrochemical nature.
Here are some recommendations that might be useful.
• Become acquainted with and ensure that you understand the relative legislation applicable to your country.
• If no legislation exists, obtain information from suppliers of oil, filters, batteries, fuel, anti-freeze, cleaning agents,
etc. about the impact of these substances on man and nature, and about how to safely store, use, and dispose of
them.
