Note: The drop-down list does not contain an exhaustive list of GPS receivers on the market and there is a chance
that your specific timing source may be incompatible with the Merlin LT. In this case, contact Carlson for further
information.
7.5 Checking the laser operation
It is essential that you verify the raw laser data prior to operation in your navigation software. This section describes
how to do this in the Merlin diagnostic tool software.
Ensure that the Merlin LT is connected to the Merlin diagnostic tool software: see section 7.3.1.
With the
Status: Idle
message displayed, click the
Start
button.
WARNING: Beware of the contact/impact potential when the laser is rotating.
Once the laser is rotating, the section of points collected during the current rotation is displayed in the
Output
frame.
The points are joined together and displayed as a red line which reflect the current view of the Merlin LT laser.
The maximum and minimum ranges recorded by the laser in each section are displayed in the top left of the
Output
frame.
