   FITTING IN THE SUPINE POSITION

Before you start, check that the sling is in a safe and clean condition and is the correct size and

model for the person to be transferred.

To prevent falls, always roll a person towards yourself, a colleague, a wall or a bed rail.  If in doubt
about the sling or its use please refer to page 2 of this guide.

3.2.1

Gently roll the person onto
their side.

Position the sling with the
aperture lined up with the
cocyx, then tuck it under them
so that the centre of the sling
aligns along their spine.

3.2.2

Gently roll the person onto their
other side.

This will enable you to pull the
sling through under them
keeping the sling aligned along
their spine.

3.2.3

Once you have pulled the sling
through, lay it out flat.

3.2.4

Gently roll the person onto
their back.

3.2.5

Thread inside leg tape through
the modesty loop.  Then thread
one  leg  strap  through  the
corresponding  inside  leg  tape.
Repeat on opposite side.

3.2.6

The sling can now be connected
to the hoist for lifting.

Thread the inside leg tape
through the modesty loop.
Then thread one leg strap
through the corresponding
inside leg tape.  Repeat on
opposite side. (See 3.1.3)

Attach the leg lift and shoulder
lift straps to the hoist.

After checking the straps are
straight and nothing is tangled,
you can proceed to hoist.
