Customer Network Requirements
General Customer information
Customer please be aware of the following security topics :
1. The service technician has Admin rights on the printer.
2. When remote access is granted by the customer, this remote access is with Admin rights on
the printer system.
3. Job data stored on the printer can be accessed by anyone with physical access to the system.
You as customer should delete jobs on the printer if the print job has to be kept secret during
access by service.
4. The system may be compromised by anyone with physical access to the system.
5. The hard-disk in the Arizona printer is not encrypted.
6. An unencrypted system backup can be created by the service technician.
7. It is possible to browse the Internet from the printer if it is directly connected to the internet
with all risks involved.
It is advised to prevent this.
8. It is advised to separate the printers from the rest of the network in order to contain potential
issues.
9. On Remote Service has ISO/IEC 27001 certification and assures best in class security and
privacy standards;
the Canon organization has data confidentiality guidelines on limited accessibility of any
relevant customer data when needed for analyzing purposes.
10. Job names stored on the printer can be sent to Canon Headquarters via On Remote Service.
Make sure there is no personal or sensitive data in the job names.
IT connectivity
• Network connection: Ethernet 100 or 1000 Mbits/sec (preferred) and RJ45.
• Network protocol type : TCP/IP V4 or TCP/IP V6.
• Printer and RIP workstation network connection: on the customer network (highly
recommended).
NOTE
Never use 10 Mbit network connections.
A printer not connected to the customer network is a non-standard installation with impact on
the following controller features which request access to the customer network:
• On Remote Service (with associated Proxy settings if required).
• Automatic download of software updates.
Network Security
The customer is fully responsible for the security of its network.
For any proposed security measures, via external boxes, these are administered by the customer.
Network security actions are perceived from the following viewpoints

Arizona printer directly connected to customer network

If extra security is needed, we advise to install an extra firewall box of the preferred supplier
of the customer. This box is then to be configured with all relevant ports for ORS and normal
printing opened towards the Arizona printer.
