REMOVING THE CYLINDER VALVE SAFETY CAP

CONNECTING THE  REGULATOR TO THE  GAS
CYLINDER VALVE

Ensure the regulator gas switch is in the
“GAS OFF” position (in the horizontal
position). Place the regulator on the gas
cylinder valve and press downwards
firmly until
it snaps on. Until the distinctive click is

heard, the regulator gas switch will not turn fully to the
“GAS ON” position (consult your gas supplier if you have
any difficulty).

TURNING THE  GAS “ON”
AND “OFF”

With the regulator safely “snapped” on
to the cylinder valve, the gas is turned
ON by turning the regulator gas switch

ANTICLOCKWISE to the vertical position (“GAS ON”).
The gas cylinder valve is now open, and the gas supply is on.

To turn the gas supply OFF, simply return
the regulator gas switch CLOCKWISE to
the horizontal “GAS OFF” position.The
gas cylinder valve is now closed, and for
added safety, the separate gas valve in
the gas regulator itself is also closed.

It is not necessary to disconnect the regulator from the
cylinder valve if you want to turn the gas supply off. This
need only be done when you wish to store the cylinder
separately from the barbecue or to change the cylinder.
IMPORTANT – If after turning the regulator gas switch
to the “GAS OFF” position the burner keeps burning,
DO NOT attempt to disconnect the gas regulator from
the gas cylinder valve – CONTACT YOUR DEALER
OR GAS SUPPLIER.

CHANGING THE GAS CYLINDER

After the gas burner has extinguished,
turn the regulator CLOCKWISE  to the
“GAS OFF” position. Disconnect the
gas regulator from the gas cylinder
valve by pressing the gas regulator
disconnection push button, and lifting
the regulator body of the gas cylinder
valve.

NOTE

:The gas regulator switch

is safely interlocked with the separate
gas regulator disconnection push

button, so that it is impossible to press in the regulator
disconnection button until you move the gas regulator
switch to the “GAS OFF” position. This is an important
safety feature and you should NEVER try to force the gas
regulator switch or regulator disconnection switch to
operate.

It is safer to contact your dealer or gas supplier if
you experience any difficulty at all.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES

NEVER disconnect or attempt to disconnect the
gas regulator from the gas cylinder valve if a burner
remains alight.
ALWAYS replace the cylinder valve safety cap on the
cylinder valve after disconnecting the gas regulator
from the gas cylinder valve – THIS IS IMPORTANT.
WARNING – All gas appliances, including barbecues,
MUST have adequate ventilation.
IMPORTANT – If you smell gas, IMMEDIATELY
extinguish any naked flames. If possible move the
cylinder outside and contact your gas supplier urgently.
RECOGNISE that different sizes and types of gas
cylinder valves are in widespread use, and it is
IMPORTANT that the regulator is designed for and
fits the gas cylinder valve you have. NEVER attempt
to force a quick connection regulator onto a cylinder
valve – it is much safer to contact your dealer or gas
supplier for assistance.
THE REGULATOR supplied must only be used with
BUTANE LP GAS (various trade names exist). It will
deliver up to 1.0 kg butane gas per hour and is preset
at the British Standard butane outlet pressure of 28
mbar. DO NOT attempt to interfere with or adjust
the preset outlet pressure of the regulator.
BUTANE liquefied petroleum gas freezes at 0°C and
in the event of this temperature, you may not be able
to draw gas from the butane gas cylinder, even though
the cylinder and regulator are correctly switched on.

Your barbecue is supplied with a gas pressure regulator for
use with bottled butane gas.
It will fit 21mm compact type automatic valved cylinders.
The regulator will automatically control the pressure of the
gas that is supplied to the burner of your barbecue.
Homebase gas barbecues use butane gas at a pressure of
28mbar.This is the pressure the regulator has been set to
and has been sealed.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN OR ADJUST THE
REGULATOR.

ACCESS TO CYLINDER POSITION

After correctly mounting the regulator on the cylinder
valve (see later text) there will be sideways rotational
movement of the regulator on the valve, but there will not
be a gas leak.

SAFETY

Before fitting the regulator to the cylinder
-

Fit the rubber tubing over the nozzle, ensuring that the
tubing is completely over the nozzle and that it is held
firmly in place by a hose clip. Always use 8mm I/D hose
or tubing to BS: 3212.The tubing must also be fitted at
the appliance end in the same way.

-

Make sure that the taps are turned OFF.
