CRVW3 3-Channel Vibrating-Wire Datalogger
80
When using a dedicated repeater station on an RF407 Network, use the RF407
radio as the main component of the station. You must use
DevConfig
to set the
Active Interface
to
PakBus Router
and the
Protocol
to
PakBus Node
. The
RF407 must also be assigned a
PakBus Address
different from all other
devices in the network. Consult the RF407 manual for details about the
configuration of the radio as a repeater device
s.campbellsci.com/documents/us/manuals/rf407-series.pdf
). See also Section
(p. 79)
.
10.7
LoggerNet
Configuration
The use of
LoggerNet
for testing and validating deployed stations in your
CRVW3 network is critical. For
LoggerNet
to work properly, the computer
running
LoggerNet
must first be physically connected to the base radio station
or configured with a telemetry link to the base station. The
LoggerNet
software
is then configured with details about the CRVW3 devices on your network,
enabling connectivity. Once you can connect to and collect data manually from
each CRVW3 station on your network, you should configure
LoggerNet
to
execute data collection automatically (often called scheduled data collection.)
10.7.1 Physical Connection to the Base Station
For wired connections between the
LoggerNet
computer and the base station,
use a serial cable. If the computer running
LoggerNet
has a dedicated RS-232
COM port, you can use a standard DB9 serial cable to make the connection
(pn 10873). If your
LoggerNet
computer does not have a dedicated RS-232
port, you can use a USB-to-Serial conversion cable (pn 17394) utilizing a USB
port on the computer. Connect the serial cable to the RS-232 port of the radio
used at the base station. You should note which COM port is being used by
your serial cable. For USB-to-serial converter scenarios, a USB driver is active
which will indicate the specific port number being used when the device is
plugged in.

LoggerNet
and the base

, or Section
Base Station on the RF407 Network
(p. 78)
. Once configured, most
telemetry links will use a TCP/IP connection to send data between
LoggerNet
and the base station.
10.7.2 Configuring the Network Map of
LoggerNet
Once a serial or telemetry link between
LoggerNet
and the base station is
physically established,
LoggerNet
needs to be configured to enable
communications to occur through the base station and outward to the remote
CRVW3 stations. The
Setup Screen
in
LoggerNet
is used to create a tree-list of
CRVW3 stations and their connectivity settings, as well as details for related
hardware. This list of devices shows in multiple locations throughout the
software and is called the network map.
