CRVW3 3-Channel Vibrating-Wire Datalogger
103
If there is trouble making a connection between
LoggerNet
and the RF451 or
RF407 base station, you should use
DevConfig
to ensure that the baud rate
setting of the RF451 or RF407 matches the
PakBusPort
baud rate setting in
the
LoggerNet
Setup Screen
. If these do not match, connectivity will not occur.
13.2 Troubleshooting Problems by Visiting the CRVW3 Site
Be as prepared as possible when you travel to the field for troubleshooting.
Gather as much information about the problem as possible before arriving.
Bring the same configuration hardware with you to the field as was used during
installation.
Once you have arrived at the site, review physical installation and hardware
configuration issues that are detailed in Section
(p. 33)
. Refer to the maintenance items listed in Section
(p. 100)
. Connect to the CRVW3 with a USB cable
and
DevConfig.
Use the
DataMonitor
tab and
Troubleshoot
tab to investigate
how the measurements of the sensors are working or not (see Section
(p. 47)
). Compare the current spectrum with a
baseline spectrum saved during maintenance (see Section
(p. 97)
).
Complex (Large) Radio Networks
, for details that
will help troubleshoot radio connectivity problems. Use a portable base station
(RF451 or RF407 depending on the network, and laptop) to ensure you can
communicate with the CRVW3 over its radio. It may be necessary to visit the
base station or a repeater station to fully investigate radio network problems.
Check the
CompileResult
s field of the
Status
table to see if radio-related
errors have been reported by the device firmware.
Contact your local Campbell Scientific support representative for additional
help when troubleshooting problems with CRVW3 operation or radio
connectivity.
13.2.1 RF451 Network Troubleshooting Summary
Step 1
Using
DevConfig
, ensure the
Radio Operation Mode
setting is configured
properly for each device on the network:
•
Point to MultiPoint Master
: Only one of these is used/configured
per network (stand-alone RF451or CRVW3-RF451 with USB
connection to
LoggerNet
).
•
Point to MultiPoint Slave/Repeater
: Used when radio
repeating/relay is required at a location as well as measurements
needing to be made (CRVW3-RF451 acting as repeater).
If repeaters are used anywhere in the network, the
Repeaters
Used
setting must be set on all devices in the network (masters,
repeaters, and slaves).
•
Point to MultiPoint Slave
: End points, CRVW3-RF451 devices
