6. AC POWER
6.1 Installing AC Power

Observe all safety precautions as specified by local building codes and the National Elec-
trical Code
®
(NEC). All procedures should be performed by a licensed electrician. If local
building codes specify procedures different from those in this section, follow local codes.
Before installation, the AC grounding electrode system must be bonded to an AC main
service power neutral / ground bus. Contact your local power company or local practices
for information about codes or restrictions for your installation.
6.1.1 Each MESA
®
6 NxT / Calix ODC-120 cabinet will accept a separately protected 120/240 VAC
single phase, 60 Hz circuit with a maximum 60A load. Install the AC power to the AC load
center (Fig. 26) as outlined in the following paragraphs.
6.1.2 If not done previously, open the end chamber door. Route the power and ground wires from the
external commercial power source through the conduit in the floor of the end chamber
(Fig. 26). Pull at least 10 feet (3 m) of wire beyond the concrete base.
6.1.3 Remove the load center cover by removing the screw. Connect the AC power lines to the main
breaker in the load center in accordance with local codes.
6.1.4 Attach and secure the load center cover panel by reinstalling the screw.
