4.3.2 PPTP
PPTP, as a layer 2 protocol

is to transmit the PPP data frames sealed in IP
data package through IP network, such as the internet transmission. PPTP can
also be used as the connection between special LAN networks. It uses a TCP
connection for tunnel maintenance, seals the data as PPP data frames and then
transmits with GRE technology through tunnel. It can encrypt or compress
loaded data sealed in data frames.
