4. HARDWARE CONNECTIONS and ADJUSTMENT
a. Connect the audio/video source (e.g., DVD player) to the
CT-COMP-EXT balun
using
component video cables. Be sure the cable’s Red, Green, Blue connectors are
properly matched to the video source and the balun’s ports. Component video Y =
Green, P
B
= Blue and P
R
= Red.
b. Connect a digital audio cable (orange connector) between the audio/video source and
the
CT-COMP-EXT balun’s
digital audio port (orange).
c. Connect the component television to the second
CT-COMP-EXT balun
using
component video cables. Be sure the cable’s Red, Green, Blue connectors are
properly matched to the television and the balun’s ports ports. Again, component
video Y = Green, P
B
= Blue and P
R
= Red.
d. Connect a digital audio cable (orange connector) between the television’s power
amplifier, home theater or other audio system to the balun’s digital audio port
(orange).
e. Connect each balun to the CAT-5/5e or CAT-6 cable via the balun’s RJ-45 connector.
5. TROUBLESHOOTING
a. Make sure all component and CAT cable connections are tight and not loose.
b. To reduce the interference among the unshielded twisted pairs of wires in the CAT
cable you can use shielded CAT-5/5e or shielded CAT-6 cables to improve EMI
problems that worsen in long transmission lines.
c. The quality of CAT cables has a major effect on the usable distance of transmission
lines and the quality of the displayed signal. Therefore, the actual transmission length
is subject to the quality of the CAT cables being used. Further, for resolutions greater
than 1080i or 1280x1024 CAT-6 cable is recommended. Professional grade
transmission lines such as Cabletronix CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables should be used.
