Transport by other means of transportation
Special guidelines apply to the transport of e-bikes with rechargeable
batteries; these guidelines are constantly being expanded or updated.
These guidelines may differ from one another depending on the form of
transportation.
• Contact the airline, railway or ferry company in due time for information
regarding the respectively valid provisions applying to the transport of
e-bikes.

Bringing the handlebars into the transport
position
NOTE
Risk of damage!
Incautious twisting of the handlebars in the transport position can
cause damage to cables, lines and frame.
» Be extremely careful when twisting the handlebars.
» Make sure that trains and cables are not kinked or sheared off.
» Make sure that the handlebar end does not hit the top tube.
1. Loosen the stem clamp on the right side of the stem.
2. Turn the handlebars carefully 90° to the right (clockwise). Make sure
that the handlebar end does not hit the top tube and damage it. If
necessary, cushion the area for transport.
3. Retighten the stem clamp. For transport without the cyclist present, it
suffices to tighten the screw firmly enough that the handlebars cannot
twist during transport.
To restore the cycling condition, always follow the instructions in
⇨ chap. 16 “Straightening the handlebars” on page 128
Make sure to observe the correct torque during installation
⇨ chap. 60 “Overview of tightening torques” on page
177.
58
Removing the pedals
Remove the pedals using a 6 mm Allen key. Note that the left pedal has
a left-hand thread!
To restore the cycling condition, always follow the instructions in
⇨ chap. 18 “Mounting the pedals” on page 130
.
Make sure to observe the correct torque during installation
⇨ chap. 60 “Overview of tightening torques” on page
177.

Notes on tightening torques
!
WARNING
Risk of accident and injury!
Improper tightening of screw connections can lead to damage to com-
ponents and failure of the screw connection.
» Do not use your e-bike if you notice any loose screw connections.
» Screw connections must be properly tightened with a torque spanner
and the correct torque values.
Observe the relevant torque values to ensure the screw connections are
tightened correctly. A torque spanner with a suitable adjustment range is
required for this task.
• If you do not have any experience with using torque spanners or if you
do not own a suitable torque spanner, you should ask your specialist
dealer to check your screw connections.
• Torque specifications and markings specifying the insertion depth are
indicated on individual e-bike components. Always observe these spec-
ifications and markings.
• If you decide to tighten the screw connections yourself, check
whether your e-bike is fitted with aluminium or carbon components
⇨ section “Configuration table” page 178
• Observe the special torque values for components manufactured from
aluminium or carbon.
Please ask your specialist dealer for missing torque specifications.
