7 . UsInG The PUR c MelTeR
7 .1 Refilling the PUR c Melter
WaRnInG:
RISK OF BURNS ! Wear safety glasses and heat protective gloves.
7.1.1 Opening
• To open the lid, turn the handle (

) counter-clockwise. Make sure to turn the handle
until it goes no further (about

rotations). You will briefly hear air escaping until
pressure has equalized and the handle has been turned far enough to block the dry air
flow (using a mechanism internal to the lid).
• Pull the locking pin (

) out and swing the lid assembly to the side by holding the pin or
the handle. Take care to avoid contact with the lid itself (

), which may be hot.
7.1.2 Closing
• Swing the lid assembly back over the tank until the locking pin (
2
) latches in place.
Turn the handle (
1
) slowly clockwise. You will hear the dry air entering tank and
displacing moist air that entered while the lid was open. Turn the handle until it goes no
further (hand-tight).
7.1.3 Operation with the lid closed
• With the lid closed, the system is sealed and dry air only enters to fill the space left
when adhesive is used up, maintaining a
0
,

bar positive pressure in the system.
7.1.4 Extended production stop
• When leaving PUR adhesive in the melter for instance over the weekend, the dry air supply
should be maintained to ensure a positive pressure in the tank when the adhesive cools
and contracts and to compensate for minute leakage around the lid seal.
In the event of undunly long stops (from

days), purge the gun and the heating hose using
special cleaner (
9195052
). See chapter
"7.2 Purging System Sequence", page 90.
