• eCoteC 2.4l doHC VVt Sidi 4-cylinder engine – Responsive,
capable and efficient. This sophisticated engine offers an
excellent driving experience. Dual overhead cams, Variable
Valve Timing and Spark Ignition Direct Injection give Verano
refined performance balanced with competitive fuel economy.
E85 FlexFuel capability allows the engine to burn domestically
produced alternative fuel composed of 85% ethanol alcohol
and 15% gasoline. Standard on Verano 1SD, Convenience 1SG,
and Leather 1SL.

• Spark ignition direct injection (Sidi) – Helps the engine create
more power from less fuel with lower emissions. SIDI injects
fuel directly into the combustion chamber to create a higher
compression ratio that increases efficiency, horsepower and
also reduces emissions. Cold-start hydrocarbon emissions are
reduced by up to 25%.

ECOTEC 2.4L engine benefits from a sophisticated

• unitized body structure – Verano’s balanced handling starts
with its strong unibody—which is comprised of 60% high-
strength steel in key areas. It enhances overall strength and

strut-type front suspension gives Verano excellent road
holding and highly precise handling characteristics. The design
also helps control noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).
• Rear suspension – The advanced Z-link rear suspension was
specifically adapted and tuned for Verano. It has a compound
crank (torsion beam) design. Benefits include: the performance
of an independent rear suspension but without the mass and
weight associated with independent rear suspension designs,
