Assembly - Backsaver Auger 1684, 16104 & 16124

Figure 235

Place chock blocks in front and behind the tires of the

undercarriage to prevent the auger assembly from

moving.

Lower the tube assembly until the upper lift arm (Item

1) is resting on the cross brace support (Item 2)

[Figure 235]

Slightly raise the tube assembly above the cross brace

support.

Figure 236

Tighten the six 5/8” x 1-1/2” bolts (Item 1) and 5/8”

lock nuts (Item 2)

[Figure 236]

on the cross brace

support (both sides).

Tighten all remaining undercarriage bolts and cross

support braces.

Lower tube assembly onto the undercarriage until the

pressure is released from the straps and lifting device

from #4 tube and #1 tube.

Measure the tube angle at the midpoint and flange

connection of each section of tube.

Ensure the top two tube (#4 & #3 tube) sections are

at the same angle, the tube is straight (+/- 1 degree)

and the spout end is not dipping down or tipping up.

NOTE: If the spout end is dipping down or tipping up,

lift the end tube (#4 tube) at the discharge

spout and adjust the lengths of the upper

trusses. See truss adjustment on page 90.

The angle of the #4 tube must be the same as the

angle of the #3 tube when the lifting device and

straps are removed. The tube is self supported and

straight (+/- 1 degree).

Grease all zerks on undercarriage. (See

“LUBRICATION” on page 161.)

FK-0032

Fully tighten all undercarriage hardware before

lowering the tube assembly onto the undercarriage.

Check over undercarriage, verify all bolts are tight, all

zerks are greased and cotter pins bent over.
