Electrical Systems
Section 5
Description
Your boat is equipped with a 12 Volt Direct Current (12
VDC) electrical system. The 12 VDC electrical system
provides current to all DC electrical loads on the boat.
The complete 12 VDC electrical system consists of
seven main distribution circuits that are electrically
connected on the negative side of the system. Each
circuit contains a 12 VDC power lead and a negative-
return lead creating a two-wire, negative-return electri-
cal system. All wire is high-grade tinned copper
marine cable designed to resist corrosion. All connec-
tors are heat shrink waterproofed to resist corrosion.
Batteries
!
CAUTION
Batteries should always be enclosed in the cov-
ered battery boxes provided with your boat.
The boxes will contain any spilled acid, as well
as protect the battery terminals from damage or
shorting due to contact with metal objects. The
battery boxes should always be secured using
the straps and trays provided. The boxes,
straps, and trays are designed to hold the bat-
teries in place while the boat is underway,
reducing the possibility of damage to the bat-
teries and other equipment in the storage area.
!
DANGER
Never use an open flame in the battery storage
area. Avoid striking sparks near the battery. A
battery will explode if a flame or spark ignites
the free hydrogen gas vented during charging.
The batteries should always be disconnected
before doing any work on the DC electrical
system.
