6.2 Installation and Configuration
The usual precautions pertaining to operating radio equipment must be observed. As
this is WLAN, no special licenses are needed but connection quality tests need to be
carried out to ensure a good quality signal. Mesh/chainlink fencing and the presence of
other radio frequency emitting devices can impact connection quality.
For detailed information on how to configure the WLAN hardware, please refer to the
AirOS™ documentation available on the Ubiquiti website .
6.2.1 WLAN System Architecture
In a typical pass-by configuration with a single Vehicle Station, there will be six units that
need to be connected in the WLAN network and set up with static IP addresses. See
Table 6.1.
You should install and configure the WLAN system to the Ground Station first then
connect the WLAN system to the Vehicle Station.
6.2.2 Ground Station Installation
1) Attach the Base Station to the Antenna WQ-3529.
2) Mount the Base Station with Antenna directly onto the shaft of the mounting pole
or tripod using the clamps supplied.
3) Using a Cat. 6 LAN cable, attach the Base Station to the PoE output at the rear of the
front end frame.
