4.0 Intended use

The bale handler is designed to attach to tractor loaders or telescopic handlers
which also have a third hydraulic service installed.
The bale handler has freely rotating tine sleeve rollers that designed to cradle
wrapped bale silage so thay can be moved and stacked without damaging the silage
wrap.  The two rollers can be removed using two linch pins to allow the bale handler
to be used as a bale spike to carry up to two bales.

4.1 Operating instructions

Once you have read and understood the Safe Use chapter ( page 4 ) you are now
ready to use the bale handler.  Connect the handler to the loader with suitable
brackets that match the intended loader. Connect the hydraulic couplers ensuring
the loader is turned off.  Check that the loader does not generate more than 200 bar
pressure.  If it does then contact your local dealer to fit a pressure relief valve.

When moving wrapped silage bale approach the bale aiming for the centre line.
With the arms fully open, lower the handler over the bale.  Do not push the bale as
the wrap with tear on the ground.  Close the rollers and tilt back.  It is advisable to
stack wrapped silage no more than two high, their will be a risk of bale deformation
any higher that will allow air into the bale.  Always be aware of the position of the
rollers when releasing the bale.

When moving straw bales the rollers are removed.  To remove the rollers take off
the sleeve retaining pins by releasing the linch pin that locks it in place.  Once the
sleeve has been removed place the retaining pins back for safe keeping.  When the
arms are now fully open it allows two straw bales to be moved.  The hydraulic pow-
ered tines also allow the bale to be column stacked, only if the stack area is level.

Always replace the rollers when finished stacking straw or travelling on
roads.

4.2 Storage

Store the unit undercover if possible.

Thoroughly clean and grease the unit before storage to ensure it is in full
operating condition when next required.

Protect any exposed areas against rust.  If you need to spray areas with oil,
use light biologically degradable oils such as rape oil.

Store the unit in an area away from human activity.

Do not park equipment where it will be exposed to livestock.  Damage and
livestock injury could result.

Do not allow children to play on or around the stored unit.
