Upgrading hardware

DRAFT: BROCADE CONFIDENTIAL

Remove the cover from the device

1. Remove any power cables from the device.

2. If the device is mounted in an equipment rack, remove it from the rack and place the device in

a static-free work area.

3. Put on the supplied ESD wrist strap and follow the instructions that came with the strap to

ground yourself before you begin.

4. Remove the cover from the device as follows (refer to

Figure 35

on page 42):

•

Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws in the bottom corners of each
side, refer to

Figure 35

. If rack mounting ears are installed, remove the four screws that

hold each ear to the device.

•

Turn the device so that the front (where the port connectors are) is facing you.

•

Slide the cover backwards to free the lip edge of the cover from the front plate. Make sure
the cover is completely free of the front panel.

5. Remove the cover by sliding it to the rear of the device and then lifting it off, as shown in

Figure 36

WARNING

Disconnect the power cord from all power sources to completely remove power from the
device.
