Auto-Negotiation Configuration
The Broadcom NetXtreme-E controller supports the following auto-negotiation features:
•
Link speed auto-negotiation
•
Pause/Flow Control auto-negotiation
•
FEC – Forward Error Correction auto-negotiation
The supported combination of link speed settings for two ports NetXtreme-E network controller are shown in
.
Note:
In NPAR (NIC partitioning) devices where one port is shared by multiple PCI functions, the port
speed is preconfigured and cannot be changed by the driver.
Note:
Regarding link speed AN, when using SFP+, SFP28 connectors, use DAC or Multimode Optical
transceivers capable of supporting AN. Ensure that the link partner port has been set to the matching
auto-negotiation protocol. For example, if the local Broadcom port is set to IEEE 802.3by AN protocol,
the link partner must support AN and must be set to IEEE 802.3by AN protocol.
Note:
For Dual ports NetXtreme-E network controllers, 10 Gbps and 25 Gbps are not supported
combination of link speed.
