Setting up the spotting scope
Ideally, the spotting scope should be mounted on the supplied tripod with the
quick release plate. Your spotting scope has a tripod connection thread according
to DIN standard (6) for this purpose. This allows the spotting scope to be mounted
on any tripod with a correspondingly standardized counter screw.
WARNING
Never look directly at, or near to the sun with this device.
There is a RISK OF BLINDNESS!
IMPORTANT:
Remove the protective caps from the tube and eyepiece. Be sure to replace the
protective caps on the lenses each time after using the spotting scope.
Operation
•
Focus wheel:
Look into the eyepiece (1) and turn the focus wheel (3) in either
direction to focus on an object.
•
Zoom:
Rotate the zoom wheel (2) to zoom in or out of an object. Then use the
focus wheel (3) to focus.
•
Indoor use and outdoor use:
Even if you should occasionally observe objects
through an open or closed window, the best results are still achieved outside.
Temperature differences between the indoor and outdoor air as well as the
low quality of window glass can cause images through the spotting scope to
become blurred.
•
Sun shield:
You can extend the sun shield (5) in poor visibility conditions
caused by strong sunshine. To do this, enclose the ring at the spotting scope
opening with your hand and turn it to the right while facing the observation
objective. On some models, the sun shield can also be extended by simply
sliding it.
