Setting up the soil moisture sensor
1)Always clean the soil moisture sensor (15) before use or taking other readings for different pots or
locations.
2)Carefully push the probe into the soil to avoid
damagetothesensor’stwometalpins
3)Inserttheprobestraightupanddownasvertically
aspossible,abouthalfwaybetweentheplantstem
and the edge of the pot. For pots over 12 inch in
diameterpositiontheprobeaboutathirdoftheway
betweenthestemandtheedgeofthepot.
4)Pushtheprobedownuntilthesoilmoisturesensor
(or soil temperature sensor) reaches the root (or
seedbed) level or about two thirds of the depth of
thepot.Neverinserttheprobebeyondthelevelas
indicatedbelow.

Note:
•Theremotesensormeasurescurrentelectricflowbetweenthetwometalpinsontheprobeandconverts
thesignalintosoilmoisturelevelindication.Duetothefactthatelectricalconductivityvariesbetween
differenttypesanddensitiesofsoilandfertilizeraswellasthepositioninganddepthoftheprobe,the
moisturelevelreadingmayvaryaccordingly,andthisisnormal.Thesoilmoisturelevelistoprovide
generalreferenceofthesoilmoistureconditiononly,andnoliabilityistakenbythemanufacturerforany
lossordamagecausedtoyourplants.
•The remote sensor may not be able to measure the soil moisture accurately for very coarse or
compressedhardsoilsduetothenon-conductiveairgaporspacinghiddeninsidethesoil.Inthiscase
thesoilmoisturereadingmaybelowerthanexpected,andthisisnormal.
•Thesensingcycleofthesoilmoistureisaround10minutes.Afterwatering,waitforaround10minutes
ormorebeforethesoilmoisturelevelisupdatedonthedisplayandallowtimeforthewatertopenetrate
intothesoil.
•Theoperatingtemperaturerangeoftheremotesensorisfrom0°Cupto50°C.It’sreadingaccuracy
andfunctioncannotbeguaranteedwhenitisoutoftherangeoftheoperatingtemperature.
