The assignment of the function keys and of the operating keys is determined
by the respective application software or by the operating system used.
Machine function keys
Always eight machine function keys (M-Keys) are arranged on the right and the
left side of the display, see fig. 6-2 "Position of the keys" on page 78 . The ma‐
chine function keys on the right side of the display are labeled with R1 to R8,
the machine function keys on the left side of the display with L1 to L8.
The state of the machine function keys can be read in different ways:

Pressed machine function keys are transmitted as PS/2 signals to the PC.
● The software reads the machine function keys from the device and trans‐
mits them to the application.
