Sanding (see figure D)
–
Work using the least possible sanding pres-
sure in order to increase the service life of the
sanding belts.
An excessive increase of the sanding pressure
does not lead to an increase of the sanding ca-
pacity, but to increased wear of the machine
and the sanding belt.
–
Apply the machine to the workpiece only
when switched on. Work with moderate feed
and carry out the sanding with parallel and
overlapping strokes. Sand in the direction of
the grain; sanding across the grain produces
an uneven sanding effect.
–
Sanding interior angles/corners
Ensure sufficient clearance to the vertical
workpiece surfaces. The sanding belt may not
come into contact with these surfaces.
–
Particularly when sanding coats of varnish,
sand in the direction of the grain as the var-
nish could melt and smear the surface of the
workpiece and the sanding belt. Therefore,
work with dust extraction.
Application examples, see figures G
–J.
Storage
Store sanding belts only hanging; avoid creasing,
as this makes the belts unusable.
Stationary Working with the Base Unit
With the base unit
14
and the stop
20
, trim-
mings/strips and profiles, as an example, can be
shaped. The minimum workpiece thickness
should be 5 mm.
Mounting the Base Unit (see figure E1)
f
To ensure safe handling, the base unit must
be mounted to a level and firm work surface
(e. g., a workbench) before using.
–
Place the stop rail
15
of the base unit flush
against the edge of a work surface.
–
Clamp the base unit
14
to the work surface
with a commercially available screw clamp
16
.
The openings
13
can be used for this purpose.
The base unit can be fastened in different mount-
ing positions. (see “Application Possibilities
”
,
page 22)
Mounting the Machine (see figure E2)
–
Place the machine on the base unit in such a
manner that the corresponding openings on
the machine engage in the guide bolts
17
.
–
Tighten the wing bolt
18
.
Mounting the Stop (see figure E3)
Depending on application, the stop
20
can be in-
serted into the grooves
22
(when using as a par-
allel guide) or
23
(when using as an angle stop).
–
Insert the plastic guide
21
into the requested
groove. The screw
19
must engage into the
corresponding thread in the base unit.
–
Tighten the screw
19
.
Application Possibilities
The base unit can be mounted in three different
positions:
Sanding longitudinal edges
for chamfering edges, face sanding, beveling,
parallel sanding (see figure F1)
–
Mount the stop
20
as a guide flush to the
sanding belt in groove
22
.
Sanding face sides
for sanding mitres (see figure F2 and F3)
–
Mount the stop
20
as a guide in groove
23
.
The stop can be variably adjusted in angles
from 45° to 90° (graduation in steps of 15°).
In this position, tools or knive, for example, can
be sharpened without the stop.
Maintenance and Service
Maintenance and Cleaning
f
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
f
For safe and proper working, always keep
the machine and ventilation slots clean.
–
Clean the tensioning roller
12
and the guide
roller
11
at regular intervals.
–
Remove adherent sanding dust with a brush.
