(FX HOOD)
VENT CONNECTIONS
The vent system must be gas tight. All seams and joints must be sealed withhi temp silicone sealant or metal
tape having a minimum temperature rating of 400º F. For best results, a horizontal vent system should be as
short and straight as possible with Single wall Galvanized steel or Stainless steel vent pipe.
The entire vent system must not exceed the size specified below.

For each additional elbow added, deduct 5 ft. from max. vent length.
FOR SIDEWALL VENTING: When a horizontal vent run exceeds 5 ft the following criteria must be observed ;
•
Attach a vertical pipe at least 2" high to the water heater outlet before the horizontal run.
•
Support the vent run at 3 ft intervals with overhead hanger.
•
Pitch up the vent run toward the vent terminal at a rate of 1/ 4" per foot.

Vent Termination
•
A side wall vent terminal must be used when the water heater is vented through a side wall. Use part
No. FX HOOD. The hood provides a means of installing vent pipe through the building wall and must be
located in accordance with ANSI Z223.1 and local applicable codes.

Wall support brackets (needed if wall hanging) must be used. Use part No. 240bracket
