Automatic deactivation

In certain situations the Auto Start Stop function
is deactivated automatically for safety's sake, for
example if the absence of the driver is detected.

Malfunction

The Auto Start Stop function no longer shuts
down the engine. A Check Control message is
displayed. It is possible to keep driving. Have the
system checked.

Parking brake

Principle

The parking brake is used to prevent the vehicle
from rolling when it is parked. It acts on the rear
wheels.

Engaging

Pull switch.
LED is illuminated.

The indicator light illuminates red. The
parking brake is engaged.

Apply the parking brake and further secure
the vehicle as required

When parking, apply the parking brake firmly to
prevent the car from rolling. On steep upward
and downward inclines, further secure the vehi‐
cle, for example, by turning the steering wheel in
the direction of the curb. ◀

While the vehicle is in motion

Use while the vehicle is in motion, serves as an
emergency brake:
Pull and hold the switch. The vehicle brakes
strongly for as long as the button is pulled.

The indicator light illuminates red, a sig‐
nal sounds and the brake lights illumi‐
nate.

If the vehicle is braked to approximately 3 km/h,
2 mph, the parking brake remains engaged.

Releasing

With the ignition switched on:

Manual gearbox: Press the switch with the
brake or clutch pressed.

Automatic transmission: Press the switch with
the brake pressed or gearbox position P en‐
gaged.
LED and indicator turn off.

Parking brake is released.

Automatic release for automatic

gearbox

Operate the accelerator pedal to automatically
release.
LED and indicator turn off.
Under the following conditions, the parking
brake is automatically released by operating the
gas pedal.

Drive stage engaged

▷

Driver belted in and doors closed

Unintentional operation of the gas pedal
Ensure that the gas pedal is not uninten‐

tionally operated, otherwise, the vehicle will
start to move and there is a risk of accident.◀
