Using Traffic Information
Using Traffic Information
Your Navigator IV can receive FM TMC
(Traffic Message Channel) traffic when
the traffic receiver is connected to your
Navigator IV.
NoTe: Garmin is not responsible for the
accuracy of the traffic information. Traffic
information is not available in all areas.
Traffic
You can only access the traffic information
if your Navigator IV is connected to an
optional FM traffic receiver. For more
information, see www.garmin.com/traffic .
NoTe: The FM traffic receiver can only
be connected to and used with the auto
mount.
Receiving Traffic
Information
To power outlet in car
Internal antenna
To power connector on the cradle
External antenna

To receive traffic information, the following
conditions must be met:
• The traffic receiver must be connected to
the auto mount.
• The auto mount must be connected to an
external power source.
• The traffic receiver and the Navigator IV
must be in data range of an FM station
transmitting traffic information.
NoTe: Heated (metallized) windshields
could degrade the performance of the
traffic receiver.
Traffic in Your Area
When you are receiving traffic information,
a traffic icon appears in the upper-left corner
of the Map page. The traffic icon changes
color to indicate the severity of traffic
conditions on your route or on the road you
are currently traveling.
Severity Color Code
Color Description Meaning
Green Low severity
Traffic is flowing
normally.
Yellow
Medium
severity
Traffic is slightly
congested.
Red High severity
Traffic is heavily
congested or
stopped.
