Blue Coat SG210 Installation Guide
If the LED on the left is not green for either connection, a network link is not established. Check the
following:
•
Verify that each cable is connected properly, such as to a switch or a hub. If you are connecting your
SG210 to your PC (see
“To configure the SG210 using the Web Setup Wizard”
on page 23), verify that the
crossover adapter is connected between the PC and the SG210, and not between the SG210 and the
LAN.
•
Try using a different network cable.
The Web Setup Wizard Is Not Accessible
This is a networking problem or you entered an incorrect network address. Attempt the following:
•
Verify that the SG210 is powered on—the barrel of the power supply adapter must be fully inserted
into the SG210.
•
Verify that both interfaces have established a network link (see
“A Network Link is Not Established”
above). The Ethernet cables should be connected as follows:

A crossover adapter (such as the one included with the SG210) is connected between the SG210
and the PC.
❐
A straight cable (patch cord) is connected between the SG210 and other networking equipment
(such as a switch).
•
Verify that you entered the correct initial configuration URL:
https://
proxysg_ip
:8083/
, where
proxysg_ip
is the IP address configured for this SG210.
•
Verify that the browser is not proxied. To change or check the browser settings, complete one of the
following steps:

In Windows Explorer, select
Tools > Internet Options > Connections
. Click
LAN Settings
and clear
Proxy
server
if it is selected.
❐
In a Firefox browser, select
Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Connections
. Click
Settings
and the
Connection Settings
dialog displays. Clear
Manual
or
Automatic Proxy Configuration
if one of them is
selected (select
Direct Connection to the Internet
).

In a Netscape Communicator browser, select
Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Proxies
and clear
Manual
or
Automatic Proxy Configuration
if one of them is selected (select
Direct Connection to the
Internet
).
•
Restore the appliance to its factory defaults (the Initial Configuration page is not accessible to an
appliance that has already been configured). See
“Resetting the SG210 to Its Factory Defaults”
The SG210 Does Not Power On
If the SG210 does not power on, check that the power supply adapter is fully inserted into the back of the
SG210 and that the power cable is fully inserted into the power supply adapter and a working electrical
outlet.
