11. Preset
Recall the stored Preset by pressing this footswitch. When you activate the switch,
the LED above the footswitch will light up and the settings stored in the Preset will
be applied, overwriting the physical state of the controls. Deactivating the Preset will
revert the settings to the physical state of the controls. Holding the Preset footswitch
for 2 seconds will store the current settings to the Preset. The Recall Indicator and
Preset LEDs will flash to confirm a successful save.
NOTE:
GAIN, VOICE, BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE, REVERB level, REVERB state and
RESPONSE will be saved to the Preset. The POWER and MASTER settings will not
be saved to the Preset.
12. Recall Indicator LED
The Recall Indicator shows if there is a mismatch between the current value of a
parameter within the amplifier and the corresponding physical front panel control. For
example, when you load the Preset the controls on the front panel may not always
reflect the setting you are hearing.
To prevent unexpected level jumps in the control you are adjusting, the front panel
knobs will have no effect on the sound until the knob reaches the current parameter
value. Once reached, the Recall Indicator will flash once, the knob will ‘take control’ of
the value and it will then increase or decrease the value.
The recall indicator will flash once each time the physical knob ‘passes through’ the
value currently stored in the current patch. The recall indicator will flash when the
saved values for GAIN, BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE and REVERB are recalled.

1. Mains Input
The supplied detachable mains lead is connected here. Dept. 10 AMPED products
use a universal input power supply. This means that the mains input range is rated
at 100Vac to 240Vac and capable of operating at 50Hz and 60Hz.
Therefore, these products can be used anywhere in the world without needing to
adjust anything. Along with the size and weight benefits, this makes them ideal for
a musician who travels internationally.
NOTE:
The mains input can only be connected to a power outlet that is compatible
with the voltage, power and frequency requirements stated on the rear panel. If in
doubt, seek advice from a qualified technician.
2. Power Switch
This switch is used to turn the amplifier on and off.
3. In
Plug your guitar or preamplified signal from your preamp pedal or amp modeller
into this input. Always use a good quality screened instrument lead.
4. Loop
The mono effects loop handles both the send and return with a single socket using
a TRS connection. Use the supplied TRS signal splitter cable to separate the send
and return and place your own external effects and stomp boxes ‘in the loop’ for
the best sonic performance. Connect the mono input of external effects units to
the effects send and the output of external effects units to the effects return. The
effects loop send is taken before the Master control.
The default for the effects loop is for it to be placed before the onboard Reverb in
the signal chain. This setting can be changed using Blackstar’s Architect software
and saved to the amp.
The effects loop is set to series routing as default. The effects loop can also be
configured to operate in parallel. Use Blackstar’s Architect software to change and
save the effects loop routing. When set to parallel, Architect also provides control
over the effects loop return level.
TIP:
The typical use of a parallel effects loop is to run the looped effects on full
‘wet’ or ‘kill dry’. This eliminates the dry signal from the effects loop and offers more
control over the wet/dry mix within the amplifier.
NOTE:
If the effects loop is set to parallel, running effects in the loop that contain
a dry signal will result in a level boost when mixed back with the dry pass-through
at the effects loop return.
5. Speaker Outputs
Connect a suitable guitar speaker cabinet to the matching impedance Speaker
Output:
The output marked ‘16 OHM’ is for the connection of a single 16 ohm speaker
cabinet.
The output marked ‘8 OHM’ is for the connection of a single 8 ohm speaker
cabinet.
AMPED 1 can deliver its full 100W of power at 8 or 16 ohm impedances.
NOTE:
Always use a good quality speaker cable for speaker outputs.
WARNING: Do not use both speaker outputs at the same time, doing so will
damage your amplifier. Connect the speaker cable to your cabinet first, then your
AMPED pedal.
NOTE:
If the speaker lead is disconnected at the amplifier end then your AMPED
pedal will automatically switch to a safe, low power consumption mode. Therefore,
for example, if you wish to record using the output from either the XLR, stereo jack,
or USB, then you can set it on your desk without any need to be connected to a
speaker load.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The protection sensing is at the speaker output jacks on the
unit. Do not disconnect at the speaker end only. Disconnect at the amp!
