Using custom support

The custom support mentioned in the previous chapter can be designed in your CAD program [1-2].
Make sure that the support geometry is a separate volume body that has no offset to the product geometry. It is
possible to overlap the geometries.

1.

Use the original design or STEP/IGES file (goto step 3)

. This is highly recommended because not all STL files can

be converted back. If you onle have a STL file goto step 2.

2.

Insert the STL file using the IMPORT function of your CAD software. Make sure u match the dimension (mm /
inches etc.). Convert this file to BREP / SOLID / MODEL (options differ per software)

tip: If you do not move the file or auto relocate it the origin stay the same as the source file. This makes merging

possible in Cura. Otherwise export the source geometry as well in step 10.

3.

Place a convenient plane (in this case the flat surface of the nut was used). Most often you can use an offset
plane from one of the origin planes (XY / YZ / XZ).
