Pinout of Category 5 Cable
The Category 5 cable you will run throughout your
ServSwitch™ Brand CAT5 Broadcast Video System should
be terminated with RJ-45 plugs and should be wired
according to the EIA/TIA-568B standard. Looking into
the RJ-45 sockets on any Hub or Module, or looking at
the cable plug from behind, Pin 1 should be on the left
and Pin 8 on the right, and the wires should be arranged
this way (the “standard signal” is the one carried during
normal VGA broadcast):
Pin Color Pair Standard Signal
1 White/Orange 2 Red +
2 Orange/White 2 Red –
3 White/Green 3 Green +
4 Blue/White 1 Blue +
5 White/Blue 1 Blue –
6 Green/White 3 Green –
7 White/Brown 4 Sync + and +24V
8 Brown/White 4 Sync – and –24V
Avoid using CAT5e cables or cables rated “Level 6,”
“Level 7,” etc.
