5.6 Setting Up Default Start-of-Day Destination Ports
Every time you switch on power to your PC or reboot it, each computer-input
port will be routed by default to Port 1. For IBM compatible PCs, however,
individual start-of-day destinations can be set for each computer port. To do
this, create a text file containing the desired selection command (see
Section
5.5
) and modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to send this command when your
computer powers up.
For example, by including the line
TYPE CONNECT2.TXT > LPT1:
in your
PC’s AUTOEXEC.BAT file (after copying the file CONNECT2.TXT from the
utility-software diskette to a suitable directory on your PC) you can set the
start-of-day default port for your computer to be Port 2.
