2. Introduction
2.1 Description
The 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX Media Converter Plus
connects your twisted-pair Fast Ethernet to multimode
or single-mode fiber without adding to your repeater
count.
These converters are unique because they support Link
Fault Signaling (LFS) and Loopback (LBK). Link Fault
Signaling allows constant connectivity to the network by
diverting data transmission to a redundant link when a
breakdown or error exists anywhere along the fiberoptic
link. Loopback gives a network administrator instant
connectivity information from either the local or remote
side.
Available models include:
• LH1703A-ST: This model extends your Fast
Ethernet network up to 1.2 mi. (2 km) over
820-nm multimode fiberoptic cable via ST
connectors.
