2. Overview
2.1 Introduction
Scalers work to convert and scale a type of video/audio signal to another type
of video/audio signal. This enables you to use differently formatted video/audio
signals on differently formatted display screens. Scaling allows for changing
resolutions to increase quality or improve compatibility.
The HDMI-and-Audio-to-HDMI-and-Audio Scaler (AVSC-HDMI) scales digital
HDMI signals with analog audio to HDMI signals with digital audio to the
best resolution for the display. With this module, HDMI based devices such as
Blu-ray disc players, PS3, DVD players, camcorders, or set-top boxes can connect
to your PC LCD and PC speakers. The device also enables users to connect full
digital video and audio to DVI enabled monitor and S/PDIF equipped audio
receiver and amplifier for maximum compatibility with your home theater
devices.
