Cleaning the Evaporator Tube
Cleaning the Evaporator Tube
If the evaporator tube becomes contaminated with non-volatile
material resulting in poor chromatography, it is recommended that
the evaporator tube is initially washed with a solvent suitable for the
contamination.
Depending on usage, it is recommended to clean the evaporator tube
once a week or every 40 hours of use as a preventative routine. If
cleaning the evaporator tube does not cure the problems, then consult
Biotage for further assistance.
1
Disconnect the Isolera splitter from the detector.
2
Put the detector into RUN mode.
3
Set the evaporator temperature to 50 °C, the nebulizer
temperature to 50 °C, and the gas flow to 2.8 SLM.
4
Fill the syringe supplied with the splitter with a suitable cleaning
solution (e.g. acetone).
5
Inject the cleaning solution into the eluent inlet at the front of the
detector, using the injection tube supplied with the splitter.
6
Repeat step 4 through 5 two times, i.e. inject a total of 30 mL.
NOTE
Do not use solvents that contain additives when performing the
cleaning procedure.
NOTE
Ensure that the detector is at equilibrium under the above conditions
before leaving the detector unattended.
