Terminating resistors with RS 422:
4.2.3
AS-i/Modbus Gateway with RS 232C
The AS-i/Modbus gateway with RS 232C-interface sends on pin 2 of the sub-D con-
nector (“RxD” signal) and receives on pin 3 (“TxD” signal). Pin 5 of the sub-D connec-
tor carries the signal ground.
Different to RS 485- and RS 422-Gateway the shield of the transmission-cable con-
nected directly to the ground of AS-i gateway.
During the data transmission, the AS-i/Modbus gateway with RS 232C interface acts
as a DCE (“Data Carrier Equipment”). When connected to a DTE (“Data Terminal
Equipment”) device such as a PC, the connecting cable should be wired straight
through without any crossed wires.
4.2.4
AS-i/Modbus Gateway in IP65
The AS-i/Modbus gateway in IP65 can be connected to Modbus-RS 485 with cage
clamp terminals inside of the device. For that purpose the top of the housing has to
be screwed off.
You can use a SUB-D data cable as an accessory part for AS-i masters in IP65 (art.-
no. 1097) which is led through the heavy gauge terminals and is connected after the
following colour scheme:
