Lightly coat (with cooking oil, butter or marga-
rine) the cooking surfaces before the unit is
used for the first time. Use the appliance for
about 10 minutes with the cooking surfaces
closed (see “using the unit”). Then wipe down
with a damp cloth. This should remove any ex-
cess paint or cardboard dust.
