Needle selection
Needle and thread must be ideally matched. Select the appropriate needle thickness for the thread size.
You can find recommended needle and thread combinations in the following table.
Thread weight wt Needle thickness
Very thick 12 – 28 100 – 120
Thick 30 – 40 100 – 110
Thin 50 – 60 80 – 90
Very thin From 60 70 – 80
If the thread breaks frequently, use a thicker needle.

4.4 Using a spool disc
Spool discs hold the thread spool in place for proper release of thread from the spool. They also fix small
spools onto the vertical spool pin.
On the vertical spool pin
> Place the spool on the vertical spool pin.
> Place the spool disc on the vertical spool pin such that there is no clearance between the spool disc and
the spool.
