About SMS
SMS (Short Messaging Service) allows
you to send text messages with simple
images and ringtones inserted.
About MMS
MMS (Multimedia Message Service)
enables you to send texts, images/videos
and sounds in a combined message to
another mobile phone or to an e-mail
address. All elements of an MMS
message are merged into a "slide show".
You may need to register for the GPRS
and the MMS service separately.
Contact your service provider for details
on MMS settings.

Creating a new SMS

1. Enter text.

Press

Insert
to
insert text templates (page 18),
images, melodies, contact data
(
vCard
) or calendar memo
(
vCalendar
).
Select
Alignment
to align text.
3. Press
to send the message, save it
to the Drafts or Private folder
(page 34), or discard it.
Receiving SMS
The icon
indicates new messages
in standby mode.
Press
to read a new SMS.
Received messages are saved in the SMS
Inbox automatically (page 34).

Service Center No.
: Service center no.
given to you by your service provider.

Bearer Mode
: The connection type.

Validity Period
: The time the message
center tries to send the message.
Maximum
is the maximum amount of
time allowed by the service provider.

Message Type
: Set the SMS message
type as text, paging, e-mail or fax.
•
Status Report
: Set to receive the status
report of the sent message from the
message center.
•
Direct Reply
: Set the route of the
replied message via your own mes-
sage center.
