System Calibration

System Calibration Introduction

System calibration is used to standardize the analysis of samples to existing 
conditions. Refer to the Synchron Clinical Systems Chemistry Information Manual for 
detailed information regarding such conditions. In general, system calibration is 
required when:

• A new Cartridge Chemistry (CC) reagent cartridge is used (except when within lot 

calibration applies).

• A new Modular Chemistry (MC) reagent is loaded.

• At recommended calibration frequency intervals.

• Indicated by control results.

• Defined per your laboratory policy.

• Electronic or module adjustment.

• Calibration set point modification.

• New lot calibrator diskette load.

• Specific maintenance procedures as defined in 

CHAPTER 10, Maintenance

 of this 

manual are performed.

Calibrations options are identified in the Cal Options box in 

Figure 5.6

. To access a cal 

option, select Options [F6] from the Reagent Status screen shown in 

Figure 5.1

. Then 

select the pull-down menu in the Cal Options box to select the desired cal option. the 
cal options are:
• Load calibrator diskettes

• Calibrator acceptance limits

• Modify set points

• Slope/offset adjustment

• Within lot calibration

• Enzyme validator

• Calibration override

• Bypass chemistry

• Extend calibration time

• Print cal report
