4. Initial use
Take the product out of the package and remove all the packaging material. Open
the battery compartment of the clock and insert one 1.5V AA battery. Pay attention
to the correct polarity of the contacts.
Note: Do not use rechargeable batteries as they have a lower voltage than
normal batteries and this can cause the device to malfunction.
There is a safety pin in the small hole above the battery compartment of the watch.
The pin is intended to block the pointers. Pull it out before use.
The watch then starts at its initial position (00:00). The hands move until the posi
-
tion is reached. The clock then tries to receive the DCF signal. In some cases, the
connection cannot be established due to certain factors, such as reinforced walls
etc. To restart the scanning, press and hold the "REC" button on the back of the
clock for about 3 seconds until the second hand stops moving. The DCF scanning
has then been restarted.
If you still haven't received a signal after about 30 minutes, you can also adjust the
time manually. To do this, press and hold the "M SET" button until the minute hand
moves forward by one minute.
You can adjust the time by pressing the "M Set" button on the back of the device.
Pressing the button once moves the minute hand forward by one minute. Press
and hold the button to make the minute hand move faster.
As soon as the clock receives a DCF signal despite adjusting the time manually, it
automatically adjusts to the current time.
5. DCF signal
The DCF signal is a time signal which is sent out by one of the most accurate clocks
in the world. It is located near Frankfurt am Main. Under ideal conditions, your
weather station can receive this signal from a distance of up to 1500 km.
If the clock has detected the signal, then it will display the current Central Euro
-
pean Time. If the attempt to receive a signal fails, then the second hand starts to
move. In such cases, adjust the time manually.
Re-activate the scanning by pressing the "REC" button for about 3 seconds until
the second hand stops again. Alternatively, you have the option of setting the time
manually. More information in this regard is given in the "Initial setup" section.
