ONNECTION TO A 

LAN

Connection to the LAN from the Marlin may be through the RJ45 10BaseT connector
labelled “LAN 10BASET”or via the 10Base5 connector labelled “LAN AUI”. Only
one of these ports will be active at any time. The port is automatically activated when
the appropriate connection is made.
The maximum length of the 10BaseT cable, with the Marlin installed should not
exceed 100 metres, therefore, it is advisable to check that this rule will not be violated.

There are certain rules which must be followed when installing new transceivers onto a
10Base5 Ethernet cable.  References should be made to the transceiver manufacturers
instructions for full details.

A standard Ethernet Transceiver Drop Cable should be connected between the “LAN
AUI” port on the Marlin and the transceiver:
