Remote Access Concentrator Parameters
You must set certain parameters from the ROM monitor before booting
the RAC from a host (
Table 2-1 ). After the RAC boots, you can change
these parameters using the na utility. If you make any changes to these
parameters, you must reboot the RAC for the changes to take effect.

If you plan to use Annex Manager or Quick2Config Annex to
manage or configure the RAC, you must enable SNMP sets
using the allow_snmp_sets ROM Monitor command. See
allow_snmp_sets on page 3-7 for details.
Parameter Description
Internet address Unique 32-bit universal identifier that is specified
in dotted-decimal notation.
Subnet mask Defines which portion of the Internet address is the
network (all ones), the subnet (all ones), and the
host (all zeros).
Preferred load host
address Internet address of the host from which you want to
boot.
Load/dump gateway
Internet address Internet address of the router, for which you will be
prompted, if the preferred load host is on a
different network.
Broadcast address Internet address with a host ID of all ones (or all
zeros for support of older 4.2 BSD systems) to
which all hosts on a particular subnet will respond.
Type of IP
encapsulation Specifies the method for accessing the physical and
link layers of the LAN. The default is: ethernet (for
DIX Ethernet-II). This parameter can also be set to
ieee802 (also referred to as LLC/SNAP).
Broadcast flag Determines whether the RAC will broadcast for a
load host if it doesn’t have a load host.
