1. General remarks
• For reasons of clarity the operating instruction is rather general. Not all the details
for the application of tachogenerators can be explained comprehensively.
• All instructions given in this manual are generally applicable and relate to the
Baumer tachogenerator series: TD 3 A 4 KA, WTD 3 A 4 KA, DTD 3 A 4 KA / Type:
KM/RM/EM/SM.
• The tachogenerator comes with device type labels providing most important techni-
cal specifications.
2. Qualified staff, relevant operators to be addressed
• Installation and operation of the tachogenerator by qualified personnel only and in
compliance with the relevant data sheet.
• Qualified staff in the sense of present instructions is authorized for installation,
earthing and marking of devices, systems and circuits compliant to the relevant
safety standards.
3. Appropriate use
• The tachogenerator is an electromechanical measuring instrument for
voltage output in relation to speed.
• The device must only be deployed as described in the present instructions
and must not be operated beyond the limits specified in related technical
documentation.
• Any other use is considered not appropriate.
• Proper and safe operation of the product is only ensured by appropriate
transport, storage, installation and mounting as well as careful operation
and diligent maintenance.
