User instructions
The treating physician is the person who
prescribes the harness and determines the
duration of the treatment. The physician‘s
instructions about daily wear times must be
followed strictly and carefully.
Selecting the right size is important for optimal
treatment, so the first fitting with the orthesis
must be done by a professional. The person
does the fitting is responsible for selecting the
right settings and making sure that the harness
works properly. The parents/caregivers must
also be receive careful instruction about how to
put the harness on and take it off. It should also
be stressed that the settings should never be
changed by the parents/caregivers unless
specified otherwise by the treating physician.
In case of skin irritation, unusual pain or other
complications that you think are caused by the
product, you must contact the treating physician
and/or technical staff immediately.
Intended use of the product / Indications
The Pavlik harness is used for the treatment of
disorders of the hip joint. The legs are positioned
in such a way that the hip socket stays anchored
in place so it can mature and hip (sub)luxation is
prevented.
The harness is used for the following
indications:
Hip dysplasia (ICD10: Q65.8)
Hip luxation (ICD10: S73.00)
Hip subluxation, congenital (ICD10: Q65.5)
Additional product information / areas of use
Skin care:
It is very important to check the condition of
the skin at least once a day, in particular the
shoulders, neck, back, chest, stomach, knee
creases, legs and ankles.
Medicinal ointments should be used only
after consultation with the treating physician.
For the sake of comfort and hygiene, the
harness should always be worn over clothing,
and socks must be worn as well.
Bath advice:
Bathe the baby as quickly as possible in order
to keep the time out of the harness to a
minimum.
It is a good idea to gently massage the
contact points of the body with the harness
to help the baby‘s muscles relax.
The harness is not designed for use in salt
water.
Risks associated with use and
contraindications
Do not use on pressure points or on areas with
irritated skin. There are no other known
contraindications or risks associated with use.
Maintenance recommendation
Check the harness regularly for wear and make
sure that the Velcro straps are free from dust,
dirt, bits of thread etc. so the straps are always
fastened securely.

Cleaning instructions / disinfection
instructions
Close all Velcro straps before washing. Hand
wash at 30º C in warm water. Let it air dry on a
flat surface. Not suitable for washing machine or
dryer. Do not bleach or dry clean. Do not iron.
Recommendation:
after washing, wrap the
product in a towel to remove excess water.
Do not wring.
