Troubleshooting
LED spotlight does not function.
• Check the position of the switch on the side of the LED spotlight. It must be in the “AUTO” position (in
this position, the switch button located under the transparent cover is slightly more inside the housing
than in the “OFF” position).
• Check that the rechargeable batteries are inserted correctly (observe polarity, plus/+ and minus/-).
• The manufacturer might have placed a small plastic protective strip between a rechargeable battery
and a battery contact to prevent a deep discharge of the rechargeable batteries. If there is such
protective strip, please remove it.
• When the product is delivered, the rechargeable batteries are empty. First, you have to charge them
for two sunny days. To this end, switch off the LED spotlight (switch position = “OFF”).
• Make sure that the connection plug on the cable end of the solar module is correctly and properly
plugged into the socket of the LED spotlight‘s cable.
The PIR motion sensor does not work properly.
• The motion detection works on the basis of the detection of temperature variations in the detection
range. So mere motion is not enough for an object to be detected, it has to be recognised by a
change in temperature.
• The range largely depends on the size of the moving object and its temperature difference compared
with the background. If the motion sensor is directed e.g. towards a warm house wall, then a person
moving through the detection range will be hard to detect.
In winter, heat-insulating clothes complicate a correct triggering of the PIR motion sensor.
• In the ideal case, the detection range has to be crossed sidewise. The detection is poorer, if you
move directly towards the PIR motion sensor.

Getting Started
If there is a transport protection film on the solar module or on front glass disc of the LED
spotlight, then remove it now.
Connecting the solar module to the LED spotlight, laying the cables
• Connect the plug at the end of the solar module‘s cable to the socket on the cable of the LED spot-
light.
• When laying out the cable, make sure that it is protected from sharp edges. Use cable ties to affix
them, for example.
Charging the Battery
• The rechargeable batteries provided are empty when the product is delivered. Therefore, prior to
the initial start-up of the product, they must be charged, ideally in the sun, for 3 days before the LED
spotlight can be put into operation.
For this purpose, switch the LED spotlight off. The switch (labelled with “AUTO/OFF”) is located on
the side of the LED spotlight‘s housing.
When the product is switched off (“OFF”), the switch button located under the transparent cover
slightly protrudes.
• The rechargeable batteries will be charged in any switch position (“OFF” or “AUTO”), if sufficient
sunlight falls onto the solar cells of the solar module.
Normal operation
• Bring the switch into the “AUTO” position (in this position, the switch button located under the trans-
parent cover is slightly more inside the housing than in the “OFF” position).
• At a low ambient brightness (e.g. at night) the LED spotlight will be activated automatically for
30 seconds, if the PIR motion detector recognises a temperature variation in the detection range (e.g.
when a person enters the detection area).
As already described in the section “Features of the PIR motion detector”, the LED spot-
light is not activated by a mere movement but there has to be a motion of an object with
a different temperature (e.g. the warm skin of a person who is moving before the cool
background of a wall, or a vehicle with a hot bonnet).
Aligning the light head of the LED spotlight
The light head can be swivelled laterally and tilted upwards/downwards. Adjust it in accordance with
the area to be illuminated. However, do not exert any force when adjusting!
Testing the PIR motion sensor
• The rechargeable batteries in the LED spotlight should be charged sufficiently (see section above
“Charging the rechargeable batteries”).
Move the switch on the side of the LED spotlight to the “AUTO” position.
• Leave the detection area of the PIR motion detector, the LED spotlight must be off.
• Cross the detection range. If the PIR motion sensor detects a temperature change, the LED light is
switched on.
The LED spotlight goes out after 30 seconds, if the sensor no longer detects a temperature change.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product is maintenance-free for you; never dismantle it (except for inserting/replacing the rechar-
geable batteries as described in these operating instructions).
A replacement of the rechargeable batteries is necessary, if the LED spotlight only works
for a very short period of time in spite of charging it via the solar module for a sufficiently
long time.
Any maintenance or repair work must only be carried out by authorised personnel/workshop.
The exterior of the product can be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened with water.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions since these might damage the surface of
the casing or impair the operation.
Never aim the jet of the garden hose or a pressure washer at the LED spotlight or the solar module!
It is advisable to thoroughly clean the solar module surface at least once a year, to maximise the
charging rate.
Disposal
a) General instructions
Please dispose of the device, when it is no longer of use, according to current statutory
requirements.
Remove the rechargeable batteries inserted in the LED spotlight and dispose of them
separately from the product.
b) Disposal of batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all spent rechargeable batteries;
disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Contaminated rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols to indicate that dis-
posal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The symbols for the respective heavy metals
are: Cd=Cadmium, Hg=Mercury, Pb=Lead (name written on the rechargeable battery e.g.
under the rubbish bin symbol on the left).
You can return used rechargeable batteries free of charge to any collection facility in your local autho-
rity, to our stores or to any other store where rechargeable batteries are sold.
You thereby fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
