4. Introduction to the Mag613
The Mag613 three-axis, eight-head fluxgate is designed to be particularly flexible in use. The
main interface cable to the electronics module will not have been fitted with a connector. This
allows the user to fit their preferred type, perhaps after the cable has been fitted through a
bulkhead or other restricted space.
4.1. Vector Measurements and Conventions
Each of the eight magnetometer heads measures in three axes marked x, y and z. The z axis is in
line with the connecting cable. Each axis produces a single, analogue output voltage in response
to the magnitude of a magnetic field.
The cables connecting the sensor heads to the electronics module can be mounted in almost any
configuration, giving maximum flexibility to the user.
